So you think you can... get over it?

The excitement I feel over each upcoming episode of “So You Think You Can Dance” is borderline pathetic. Ok, so it is probably pathetic and not borderline anything except pathological. I mean really. I’m a grown ass woman. I shouldn’t be so excited about a panel of three annoying judges (the Mary Murphy scream so affectionately touted by contestants, hosts and judges makes me want to fully develop my superhuman jumping through the television and killing people with annoying habits powers), one annoying host (if you pause your TIVO at the right time she looks like a horse, no kidding, a horse), and contestants (I wish I was so shallow that I withheld votes from people who do the annoying finger thing.. call 1, call 1… FUCK YOU). But it brings me back. It brings me back to all the days and days that I spent at my dance studio. The days while my self esteem was being torn to shreds, the results of which wouldn’t fully become apparent until I reached my early 20s. No wonder I love the show.

But really. I love the show. And tonight, they are changing the format, and I’m (if it’s really possible) even more excited. So much suspense.

It’s been a rough week at work. This is all the wit I can muster as I feel a bit beaten down. I’m trying to keep in my office away from any objects of conflict. Those objects are people, but I’m not going to get into anymore detail.

So instead I will sidestep any issues of workplace malaise and malcontent by listing music I like right now:

Girl Talk Night Ripper
Starlight Mints Drowaton
Be Your Own Pet Be Your Own Pet
M.I.A. Arular
Goldfrapp Supernature
Midlake Banman and Slivercork (anxiously awaiting their new release next week)
The Format Dog Problems
Beirut Gulag Orkestar (this one won’t leave my list)
My Morning Jacket Z

And here’s stuff I have that I think, “What was I thinking”:

Rye Coalition Curses
Bloc Party Silent Alarm
James Figurine Mistake Mistake Mistake (dude, i know you how feel)

Of course, things frequently move off this list onto what I like. For example Starlight Mints was down on the bottom list, but has been moved up due to the conspiracy between my iPod and their record label.
